We are excited to announce some major changes to the image placement process. With the old placement process, you would drag each image precisely where you want it, and then ScrapWalls would move overlapping images out of the way. Though this puts one image in the right place, our users expressed frustration because it would also displace other images in a sometimes unpredictable manner.

We listened to your feedback and added image swapping to the finish page. Most of the time, you just want to switch two photos. By switching images (instead of moving one at a time), ScrapWalls can avoid messing with your other photos. As you can see in the before and after screen shots to the right, ScrapWalls now lets you drag one image over another, and then swaps images without changing the surrounding photo layout.

In addition to image swapping, ScrapWalls now lets you resize in eight directions (instead of one) and delete photos from your collage. As seen in the first picture, you can resize an image by dragging any of the eight white boxes, and delete it using the grey ‘X’.

Image placement just got a lot easier!

We have been working hard to make ScrapWalls.com faster and better for our users. We recently improved our upload process by changing the upload server to Amazon S3. Before, uploads went directly to our main ScrapWalls.com server. Our server has pretty good bandwidth, but if 100 people are using the site at a time, then photo uploads could slow things down. Not anymore! The Flash uploader now posts photos directly to Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3), which is a massive cluster of file servers that has effectively unlimited bandwidth. Now ScrapWalls.com will be more responsive and (unless you are using a 56k modem) you can upload photos much faster!

We are proud to announce the new ScrapWalls.com! You may have already noticed the new look and feel, but what else has changed about our site? Well, the number one request from users has been the ability to order prints directly from our site. Now you can! The new ScrapWalls makes it easy for you to create and buy collage posters.  We offer four poster sizes ranging from 11″ x 14″ to 20″ x 30″.

You may have also noticed the most important addition to our site – shape collages. Before, you had to manually place photos to achieve a desired shape. Now, ScrapWalls does all the work! All you have to do choose a shape and your photos will line up perfectly. If you still want to place specific photos, you can do that too. The new auto-placement software will magically line up surrounding images with no gaps or overlapping.
